What a way to start 2024 & the final few sessions of the 2023-2024 programme!
We had a fantastic morning with Devon & Cornwall Police at their Bodmin HQ. We met fantastic Assistant-Chief Nikki who gave us a great insight into life in the force and being a women in senior leadership.
We followed that with a ‘behind the scenes’ with the Road Traffic team and the Armed Unit and asked lots of questions about the kit used… we liked the ‘stinger’!
We had a surprise visit from Police Welfare Dog Rocky and his lovely human team mates.
Finally, we heard from Sgt. Jim who talked to us about his challenging start in life, taking on challenge and making his own paths, starting new projects and life in the force and search and rescue team. He gave us some great life advice and showed us his MBE for services to the community.
This afternoon we spent time with the lovely President-Elect Humphrey from the Rotary Club of Redruth. He introduced us to the work of the Rotary and other service-led clubs and pointed our young mentees to all the opportunities that come from community volunteering.
The day concluded with a planning session for what will be AMAZING table decorations for the Gala Dinner we host in April.
Thank you to everyone involved in today, it was a fantastic way to start the year!
